React Job: Full Stack Engineer

As a Barclays Full Stack Developer, you will be part of four new agile full-stack feature teams to work on an exciting new digital investing product within Barclays Wealth Management function. The team will leverage some existing digital application capability but will be mostly building brand new customer-facing digital features, with the user interface fully designed, built and owned in-house. Behind the digital UI will sit a microservices architecture with APIs that allow communication across internal components and externally integrating with vendor APIs.

We are currently operating in a hybrid working environment, meaning that many colleagues spend part of their working hours at home and part in the office, depending on the nature of the role they are in. Please discuss the detail of the working pattern options for the role with the hiring manager.

What will you be doing?
• You will be a key member within one of the agile feature teams, taking the lead on UI and API development

• Ttaking business and functional requirements and translating them into UI screens
• Producing and maintaining readable, well-documented code
• Performing Unit and integration testing of code, and providing support to testing cycles
• Contributing towards design and coding best practice across all the feature teams
• Supporting and mentoring junior colleagues, including graduates, interns and higher apprentices

What we’re looking for:
• Experience with MQ and Kafka

• Knowledge of Cloud development, particularly AWS
• Broad experience in the Wealth Management, Financial Planning and Digital Investing domains
• Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Computer Science or Software Engineering

Skills that will help you in the role:
• Experience with Java, Linux, Databases, Web Services, REST APIs

• Broad knowledge of Angular or ReactJS, NodeJS, Javascript/Typescript, HTML5, CSS3 and Bootstrap UI
• Ability to design and develop enterprise level software solutions using tools and techniques such as Source Control, Build Tools (e.g. Maven), TDD, automated CI/CD
• Problem solving skills good communication and collaboration skills
